Sepp Eisenriegler is a Social Entrepeneur running a Social Business in Vienna, Austria. His main purpose of being an entrepeneur is not to make profit, but to make a living, while training and creating jobs for long term unemployed people and to foster environmental sound use of ressources of our planet through promoting and offering repair services.
At R.U.S.Z. (Reparatur und Service Zentrum – Repair and Service Center) jobless people are trained to repair goods at affordable prices and, doing so, contribute to ressource efficiency and climate protection by extending the use phase of appliances. Items most commonly repaired are electrical household devices and consumer electronics.
R.U.S.Z created an enormous demand for repair services which seeded the Repair Network Vienna, a network of some 60 private, profit-oriented repair companies and was followed by the creation of three other repair networks in Austria (www.repanet.at).
The research and development unit of R.U.S.Z. developed a technical method for reducing the water and energy consumption of older washing machines by 20%. Energy efficiency class C-devices can therefore be upgraded to energy efficiency class A.
Currently R.U.S.Z also runs an awareness campaign against planned obsolescence.
